I have owned a lot of different cars, I was pretty happy with the dodge shadow and kind of disappointed with the neon at first. the layout of the car took some getting used to. also when you change the oil on the old 2.2 - 2.5's everything was so easy to get to.... the neon really wasn't bad to do maintenance on, just different! brakes, wheel bearings, same just different. I started liking the car more and more after it broke 200,000 mi. and when it hit 300,000 mi the catalytic converter plugged which gave symptoms of the trany slipping. I sold the car and it's still on the road in Wellsville, ny. the car that I own now just broke 200,000mi (2003 Saturn ion) but it's had it's issues, rack pinion (surprisingly easy to change)ignition switch on cold mornings below 32* and something that is currently causing the car to buck, maybe moisture in the tank (which is no fault of the cars)I do miss that neon, at times I have thought about making an offer to buy it back just to see how many miles it will go!

Cute, gets you to where you need to be, affordable, and comfortable. What more does one need in a car.

"I'm a broad shouldered guy. For me the seats are not comfortable. Normal sized people always exclaim that the seats are so comfortable. Only not for me that's why the low rating. And plastic interior is only acceptable, not enjoyable. Reliable. Since buying the car new in '03 these parts have been purchased. Right rear strut (due to chrome plate on rod corroding), 2 Headlight bulbs, 1 Tailight bulb, plug wires, plugs, tires, more tires, and winter tires, windshield (due to pitting), oil and filters, air filters. Intake manifold gasket. That is all. Everything else as left factory, little over 58,000 miles ago. Under warranty. Turbo and wastgate were replaced as wastgate was not closing properly (though I was getting 17+ pounds of boost! :) ) and syncros on 2 and 3 gears (my fault due to a couple missed while at full throttle shifts- I find the throw takes too long and I sometimes have the clutch pedal on the way up before it is fully in gear. My fault. Could put in a shorter throw shifter, but syncros replaced under warranty). Performance. With right tires (Eagle F1 Assymetric summer only the best so far) it exceeds drivers ability on public roads. (Over 1,000,000 miles driving truck. Driver knows when limits are reached). Scary fast on corners, even for one often compared to Spock emotionally. Sent many others, especially 'vettes, into uncontrolled slides when they try to follow at same speed, and not even at the cars limit." read less
